The Kindness Research Foundation was founded as a not for profit company limited by guarantee in October, 2014. The Foundation adopted its current name and appointed the following officers in July, 2017:

The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors assisted by an Advisory Board, Chaired by Professor David Canter which is currently in formation.
The Projects and Operations of the Foundation are progressed through Working Groups of which the first three to be formed are:

The work of the Foundation is supported by Members, Patrons and Donors. Members and Patrons are entitled to receive regular information on the Foundation's activities, attend its Annual Meeting and participate in decision making.
Membership currently costs £10 a year. Patron starts at £100 a year. Donations may be of any amount. All the money raised through fees and donations, and through grants, partnerships and commercial revenues are applied to further the work of the Foundation.
